Terms of Service
Last updated: 26 October 2026 (version 2026-10-25)
These terms are an agreement between you and Jsouce, operated by A. Hakan Keresteci, an individual developer based in Edirne, Türkiye ("we", "us"), for the Compose On app and website composeon.jsouce.com (the "Service"). By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. This agreement also acts as the end user licence agreement (EULA) for the app; Apple is not a party to it (see section 14).
1. Who can use Compose On
You must be 18 or older. By signing up you confirm you are. We may ask you to prove it, and we may close accounts we believe belong to someone under 18. Compose On is not for children.
2. Your account
Sign in with Apple or Google. Choose a username that is not offensive or misleading and not someone else's name or brand. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at support@composeon.jsouce.com if it is misused.
3. What Compose On does
You compose songs from notes and instruments, publish them to a public feed, and other people can continue them. Songs are stored as compact data (not audio) and played back on your device.
4. Zero tolerance for objectionable content
There is no place on Compose On for:
- harassment, bullying, threats or hate speech
- sexual content, or anything involving minors in a sexual context
- graphic violence, or content that promotes self-harm
- spam, scams, or impersonation
- content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights
- anything illegal
This applies to everything you publish or type: song titles, notes, comments, usernames, display names, bios and any other text. We screen text automatically and review reports within 24 hours. We remove content and suspend or ban accounts that break these rules, without notice where the breach is serious. You can report any song, comment or profile and block any user from within the app.
When we remove content or restrict an account we tell you why (a statement of reasons) and you can appeal once per decision from the app (Settings → Moderation notices).
5. Your content and how it is shared
You keep ownership of the parts you create. A song on Compose On is a tree: one person starts it and others add parts. By publishing a part you:
- grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, synthesize and distribute it in and through the Service, including previews and share pages;
- grant every other user a licence to listen to it and to continue, modify and build on it inside Compose On, in the way the app allows (for example adding a part to the song, adding tracks, editing notes in their own branch), always with credit to you preserved in the song's credits; and
- confirm you have the right to publish it and that it does not infringe anyone's rights.
These licences continue for as long as your part remains in a song other people have built on, even if you later delete your account, because their parts depend on yours; credits then show "Deleted user". Apart from that, deleting content or your account ends the licences for copies we hold (backups age out within 35 days). Licences others have already received to continue the song do not allow them to take it outside Compose On.
Do not upload other people's copyrighted material (for example a transcription of a commercial song) unless you have permission.
6. Starting songs: who can continue
When you start a song you choose whether anyone, only your friends, or no one can continue it, and an optional limit on contributors. Those settings apply to new parts only; existing parts stay.
7. Friends and blocking
Friendships are mutual. Blocking someone hides your content from each other and stops them contributing to or commenting on your songs.
8. Subscriptions and ads
Compose On is free with ads and a limit on the number of songs you start. Contributing to other people's songs is not limited. Premium removes ads and raises the limit. It is a monthly or yearly subscription bought through Apple in-app purchase, with prices shown in the app before you buy. A free trial may be offered on the yearly plan. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in your Apple Account settings. Payment is charged to your Apple Account, and refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Ads may use your advertising identifier only if you allow tracking.
9. Rules for using the Service
Do not attack, probe or overload the Service, scrape it, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, evade a block or a ban, or use it to build a competing product from other users' content.
10. Copyright complaints
See our copyright policy. We respond to valid notices and may end the accounts of repeat infringers.
11. Ending your account
You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account). It is scheduled for erasure after a grace period of 14 days, and you can restore it before then. We may suspend or end your account if you break these terms or the law, or to protect other users.
12. Changes to the Service and these terms
We may change the Service. If we change these terms in a material way we will ask you to accept the new version in the app before you continue posting.
13. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error free, or that other users' content is accurate or lawful. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud), or your rights as a consumer.
14. Apple
This agreement is between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. If the app fails to conform to a warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price, and to the extent allowed by law Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for claims relating to the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you. You confirm you are not in a country under a US embargo or listed as a restricted party.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. The courts and enforcement offices of Edirne have jurisdiction, except that mandatory consumer protections and the courts of your country of residence still apply where the law gives you that right.
